Committed to our Communities
Every day, IU Health positively impacts our statewide community by carrying out its mission through clinical care, education, research and service. In 2016, IU Health provided more than $584 million in community benefit and nearly $720 million in community investments, serving more than 1 million Indiana residents.
These community benefit initiatives include, but are not limited to: offering financial assistance to patients who are unable to pay, educating health professionals, engaging in innovative clinical research and conducting community outreach initiatives that improve the health of community members.
As part of our commitment to provide high-quality care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay, IU Health provided more than $67 million in free or reduced-cost healthcare to qualified patients. IU Health trained and continues to train the new generation of healthcare professionals, engaged thousands of clinical trials researching leading-edge medicine and breakthrough treatments and partnered with hundreds of community organizations to bring health and wellness education to people throughout the state.
