Get Strong. Get Walking.

Good news! Just 30 minutes of walking, five times a week, can help you live a healthier life and improve your overall health.

Participating in a daily walking routine can help you:

  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Prevent or manage various health conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and Type 2 Diabetes
  • Lift your mood
  • Strengthen your bones
  • Improve your balance and coordination

The lifestyle changes in diet and increases in daily walking were found to be more effective in reducing the incidence of Type 2 Diabetes than treatment with the drug metformin (58% versus 31% reduction in risk).

  • The lifestyle changes in diet and exercise in daily walking were found to be more effective in reducing the incidence of Type 2 Diabetes than some drug treatments.
  • Walking more than four hours per week reduces the risk of hospitalization for cardiovascular disease by 30%.
  • Brisk walking can increase good cholesterol levels (HDL), reduce triglyceride levels in the blood, reduce depression and increase your life span.
