IU Health's Community Impact
Every day, IU Health positively impacts our statewide community by carrying out its mission through clinical care, education, research and service.
In 2015, IU Health provided more than $522 million in community benefit, and more than $620 million in community investments, serving more than 1 million Indiana residents. These community benefit initiatives include but are not limited to: offering financial assistance to patients who are unable to pay; educating health professionals; engaging in innovative clinical research; and community outreach initiatives that improve the health of community members. As a part of our commitment to provide high-quality care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay, IU Health provided more than $351 million in free or reduced-cost healthcare to qualified patients.
IU Health also trained the next generation of physicians, engaged in thousands of clinical trials researching breakthrough treatments and partnered with hundreds of community organizations to bring health and wellness education to people throughout the state.
