United Methodist Church Conference

The mission of Indiana University Health is to improve the health of our patients and community through innovation and excellence in care, education, research, and service.

IU Health’s status as a conference related unit of the Indiana Conferences rests in our heritage and in our core values. The entire IU Health system of medical facilities expresses its gratitude to Indiana Methodists for your vision, prayers, and support in birthing and developing one of the finest hospital systems in the United States. The core values of holistic care for all persons, meeting community need, and doing all the good that we can do continue to motivate us today.

During 2011 we continued to express the healing and charitable mission of United Methodists through our various services, which impacted over 500,000 Hoosiers. We directly engaged in ministry with the poor through providing charity care totaling more than $121,541,408. Statewide we provided more than 143,219 inpatient admissions and 2,244,320 outpatient visits. Approximately one-half of our services are delivered through our Academic Health Center (Methodist, University, Riley Hospitals), while our suburban Indianapolis and statewide partners provide an increasing share of service every year. In 2011 White Hospital and Morgan Hospital joined the IU Health network, bringing the total hospitals owned by IU Health to eighteen with over 26,000 employees.

Our vision continues to be to provide preeminent best medical and spiritual care to all who trust their medical care to us. Recognition of our capacity to do this included our Academic Health Center’s inclusion in the “US News and Report” best hospital rankings, the only Indiana hospital to be so recognized, and Methodist Hospital’s recognition by the University Healthcare Consortium as the highest quality hospital in their national database. Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health ranked among the top 30 children’s hospitals in the nation. In addition the prestigious Magnet Hospital designation is maintained by our Academic Health Center, LaPorte, Goshen, and Bloomington hospitals.

The links available below provide substantial information about our healing and caring ministry. In particular, the first link below will provide access to numerous links in the left margin. We hope you will explore that information. Also, in the left margin of this page you will note links to all the hospitals within the IU Health system. Our growing statewide presence is consistent with our core mission. Like Indiana United Methodists, the entire state is our area of focus.

We hope you will find the following links interesting and informative. We welcome your comments, observations, prayers, and support.
