IU Health Arnett Cancer Services Providers are all board-certified and have completed fellowships to advance oncology and hematology research. Our team of physicians provide advanced, cutting edge care in a compassionate environment.
Wael Harb, MD
Medical Oncology & Hematology
Horizon Oncology Center
Dr. Harb dedicates himself to get to know each patient on a personal level to find the best treatment plan possible. As Division Director of IU Health Arnett Cancer Services, he encourages a high level of coordination among the different healthcare providers that accompany a cancer diagnosis. Dr. Harb is committed to clinical research, working directly with IU Health Arnett’s system partner, IU Simon Cancer Center, to research new medications to treat cancer when there is no standard treatment available. Active in local community cancer initiatives, Dr. Harb also enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.

Song-Chu “Arthur” Ko, MD, PhD

Dr. Ko provides an extensive radiation oncology service list with a special interest in treating cancers of the prostate, breast, lung and pancreas. He actively pursues research in the field as an Indiana CTSI Award Investigator and a PI of a novel imaging trial. Dr. Ko joins IU Health Arnett from IU Simon Cancer Center where he practiced since 2006. Dr. Ko is married and has two children. He enjoys running, salt water fishing and reading.

Ajita Narayan, MD, PhD

Dr. Narayan’s practice philosophy is to implement discoveries from cutting edge science and research to individualize therapeutic options for each patient. She first became interested in pursuing a career in oncology and hematology, when, as a medical student, she cared for a young woman who had an acute leukemia. In her spare time, Dr. Narayan enjoys cooking, gardening, listening to Indian classical music and vintage jazz, and spending time with her husband and their menagerie of dogs, cats and fish.

Gilbert Almanza, AOCNP

Gilbert chose to practice oncology medicine after serving in Desert Storm and Desert Shield when he knew he wanted to do something that would improve the lives of others. Taking care of patients with cancer not only helps improve the world, but it is challenging, interesting and inspiring. Gilbert firmly believes there is a calling to do the work that he does and enjoys working with his colleagues who share the same belief. He strives to assist patients in their cancer journey by managing symptoms and preserving their physical, spiritual and mental health.

Nadine Bruns, ANP

Nadine’s interest in oncology stemmed from the diagnosis and subsequent death of her father to colon cancer when she was 12 years old. Since then, she has felt the desire to give back to patients and families who are going through a cancer diagnosis and treatment plan. Her philosophy is to treat each patient like she would treat her father if she could. She believes that health includes physical, emotional and spiritual needs that are to be addressed with each patient encounter. Outside work, Nadine enjoys exploring the outdoors through camping, hiking and road trips. She has also taken the risk of skydiving.

Karen Jaworski-Semyen, AOCN

Karen chose to pursue oncology during her senior year of nursing school and has remained in oncology for more than 30 years since. She enjoys the dynamic nature of oncology and being part of leading edge treatment options for her patients. Karen tries to make a difference in patients’ lives by respecting them as individuals with unique needs and by providing them with compassionate, quality care based on these needs. Karen provides guidance throughout the entire process of care, including educating the patient and their families of the cancer process and the management of symptoms. She enjoys cooking, shopping, listening to jazz music and playing golf. She also enjoys spending time with her son, significant other, family and friends.
