Emergency Medicine

When you face a medical emergency, Indiana University Health Arnett Hospital provides experienced and effective treatment, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We serve patients in Lafayette and surrounding communities.

Indiana Emergency Care (IEC) staffs our Emergency department in partnership with an experienced team of IU Health Arnett Hospital staff members. IEC is a Lafayette-based private physician practice, staffed with board certified emergency medicine physicians and highly trained physician assistants and nurse practitioners.

Our emergency department is a Level III Trauma Center that provides prompt assessment, resuscitation, surgery, intensive care and stabilization of injured patients and emergency operations. We are equipped to treat severe and life-threatening conditions.

If necessary, patients can be transferred to one of our two Level I Trauma Centers equipped to treat the most severe and life-threatening conditions - located at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health. Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health is the only pediatric Level I Trauma Center in Indiana and features highly trained teams that specialize in the emergency medical care of infants, children and adolescents.

Our multidisciplinary team of emergency medicine physicians includes specialists in orthopedics, cardiology, neurosurgery, cancer, pulmonology and other specialized fields. We have access to the most advanced diagnostic tools available and support from lab and imaging services so you can receive high-quality care when you need it most.

In addition, through our partnership with the Indiana University School of Medicine, we are improving outcomes for our most critically ill and injured patients through research and clinical trials.
