Q: What is Indiana University Health?

A: Indiana University Health is Indiana’s most comprehensive healthcare system. IU Health is composed of hospitals, physicians and allied services dedicated to providing complete and exceptional care to the people of Indiana and beyond. A unique partnership with the IU School of Medicine gives our highly skilled physicians access to innovative treatments using the latest research and technology.

IU Health is an Indiana-based private, nonprofit organization. And it is the only healthcare system in Indiana recognized by U.S.News & World Report. (U.S.News & World Report National Rankings of Hospitals 2010)

Q: Why is my hospital changing its name?

A: Indiana University Health is making changes throughout its entire statewide system that will allow us to continually deliver better patient care. Adopting a unified name makes it easier for patients to recognize our hospitals and services throughout the state. Many of the new names preserve the legacy of local hospitals.

Q: Will this affect my current insurance coverage?

A: No. All insurance providers will continue to recognize care provided throughout our system based on their current contracts and reimbursement rates. Reimbursements for Medicare and Medicaid will also not be affected. Annual changes, however, may occur as they would under normal circumstances.

Q: Does my physician know about the change?

A: Yes. All IU Health-employed physicians are aware of the change. Also, most referring physicians throughout Indiana are being notified.

Q: Is there new contact information?

A: All current phone numbers will remain intact. Current web addresses and e-mail addresses will function for a time, but will evolve to iuhealth.org and (name)@iuhealth.org respectively.
