Family and Guest Visiting

Our healthcare team understands that having family and friends around is important to your healing process; therefore we have an open visitation policy, allowing visitors 24-hours a day. We encourage visitors to spend as much time in the room with your loved one as you deem beneficial, including overnight stays. To respect the individual needs of all patients, a hospital-wide quiet time begins at 8 pm.

On most floors, family retreats are available for family members to sit, reflect and relax while not at the bedside of their loved one. These retreats were specially designed with family in mind and are semi-private, meaning that only those people with access to patient rooms will have access to this retreat.

Can children visit?

In general, it is a good idea to check with a guest relations team member before bringing a child as a visitor. Children younger than 14 years must be accompanied by an adult other than the patient at all times. Some units may require health screens or have other limitations on children visiting.

If someone is sick, can they visit?

For your protection, people should not visit if they are sick, especially if they have a sore throat, cold or fever.

Is smoking allowed?

All IU Health facilities are smoke-free. For the safety of everyone, smoking is not allowed in any IU Health building or on the grounds.

What is the IU Health alcohol and drug policy?

All IU Health facilities are alcohol and drug-free.
