Indiana University Health Arnett hospitalists work in collaboration with primary care physicians to provide general medical care for hospitalized patients 18 years of age and older.

Hospitalist Services Include:

  • 24/7 hospital coverage
  • Hospital admissions and discharges
  • Daily assessments and ongoing hospital care
  • Co- management with surgical and specialty colleagues
  • Inpatient consultations
  • Communication with the patient, family and outpatient providers
  • Documentation using a fully electronic medical record

Saeed Ahmad, MD

Dr. Ahmad completed his residency in Des Moines, Iowa. He enjoys the challenges of caring for hospitalized patients and is pleased to be part of the collaborative team of healthcare providers at IU Health Arnett Hospital. A father of one son and one daughter, Dr. Ahmad has found in the Greater Lafayette community an excellent environment reflecting his own strong family values.

Zarah-Ann Alba, MD

Dr. Alba joined the Hospitalist team at IU Health Arnett in September 2010. She grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She earned her medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago in 2001. Dr. Alba joined the Air Force and finished her residency training at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss., before being stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Ill.

Dr. Alba feels honored to have been able to care for soldiers. She completed her service commitment then had a traditional inpatient/outpatient practice in Belleville. She moved to Lafayette to focus on inpatient medicine and has been glad to use her experience in the diagnosis and treatment of acute complicated medical issues. Dr. Alba strives to provide her patients the best care possible with empathy and compassion. She lives in Lafayette with her husband and daughter.

Jeffrey P. Brown, MD

Dr. Brown has resided in the Greater Lafayette community since 1987. A board certified Internist, he has served in several medical and administrative capacities with a particular focus on adult inpatient care. Dr. Brown is dedicated to lifelong learning and to applying new knowledge in the pursuit of excellence. He is committed to carefully listening and collaborating with his patients and their families to most effectively address their needs.

Usman Y. Cheema, MD

As an enthusiastic young hospitalist, Dr. Cheema has a special interest in excellent and evidence-based inpatient care, strong communication skills, continuous education and clinical research. In his free time, Dr. Cheema enjoys spending time with his family, working out, traveling and reading.

Carmen Davis, MD

Dr. Davis joined Indiana University Health Arnett after finishing medical school and residency in Egypt, her native country, and a second residency at East Tennessee State University. She enjoys working in the hospital setting because she can work closely with patients and their families to assure them they are getting quality, evidence-based care. She learns from her patients every day. Dr. Davis’s inspiration comes from Helen Keller, “When we do the best that we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or the life of another.”

Ryan Deweese, MD

Dr. Deweese chose a career in medicine to make a difference in people’s lives. He believes that great patient care involves a team approach with collaboration between doctors, nurses, patients and families. His outside interests include golf and spending time with his wife and daughter. Dr. Deweese has a special interest in medical education as well, frequent working with medical students in and out of the hospital.

J. Brooks Dickerson, MD

Dr. Dickerson and his wife, Janet, have lived in Lafayette since 1987. He previously saw outpatients, inpatients and nursing home patients from 1981 to 2009. In 2010, he brought his experience to IU Health Arnett Hospital as a Hospitalist. His greatest strength is his ability to communicate the complexities of modern medicine in a way that patients understand and trust. Dr. Dickerson does all that he can to see that his patients’ physical, emotional and spiritual needs are met. Dr. Dickerson enjoys reading, golf, music, movies, computers, time with his daughters living in Colorado and church functions. His motto is “Do the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason.”

Gary W. Dupré, MD

Dr. Dupre has been living and practicing medicine in Tippecanoe County for more than 20 years. He is glad to be associated with IU Health Arnett Hospital to help provide healthcare to the local community. Dr. Dupre enjoys sports and Purdue University athletics.

Femi Lasisi, MD

Dr. Lasisi believes in partnering with patients in order to improve health and well-being. His practice is patient-centered and evidence-based. He strives to always keep open lines of communication while caring for his patients with the understanding that they may be from diverse backgrounds socially, culturally and educationally. Outside of the hospital, his hobbies include reading about current events, fine dining, watching football and soccer, enjoying nature and traveling.

Cherie Lhungay, MD

Dr. Lhungay chose IU Health Arnett to fulfill her passion to provide the best possible care for patients and their families. Her practice approach is characterized by compassion and the fervent belief that greater accessibility and collaboration with patients reinforces the healing process. Dr. Lhungay has a special interest in geriatrics and treating patients with diabetes and obesity. Outside the hospital, Dr. Lhungay enjoys traveling, learning about new cultures and promoting professional development in the Tibetan American community.

Chris Mansfield, MD

Dr. Mansfield, a Lafayette native and Lafayette Jeff graduate, returned to the community with his wife, Annie, and three daughters in 2009 to practice Hospitalist Medicine. While maintaining his strong interest in fitness and athletics, Dr. Mansfield highly values time spent with extended family and friends. He is committed to a collaborative relationship with his patients and their families including a strong emphasis on medical excellence and active communication. A proud Indiana University alumnus, Dr. Mansfield is nevertheless an enthusiastic Boilermaker fan.

Nabia Noman, MD

Dr. Noman, board certified in Internal Medicine, enthusiastically chose IU Health Arnett to pursue her passion for the practice of Hospital Medicine. She and her husband, Noman Kidwai, are excited to be near extended family and to have the opportunity to raise their young son in a stable environment of strong Midwestern values. Dr. Noman is dedicated to medical excellence and committed to establishing an empathetic connection with her patients and their families. Her practice approach is characterized by compassion, communication and collaboration.

Falguniben A. Patel, MD

Ever since Dr. Patel was a little boy, he wanted to be a physician. He joins IU Health Arnett after practicing for more than six years in Tennessee. Dr. Patel strives to provide the best possible care for his patients by continually improving his medical skills. He enjoys spending time with his family and watching action movies.

Radomir Piwko, MD

Dr. Piwko chose hospitalist medicine for the unique opportunity it affords him to really get to know his patients while treating the wide variety of illnesses seen in the hospital. He believes in a holistic approach to care in which patients receive quality medical care as well as social, spiritual and mental support. He tries to engage patients in their healthcare through open communication and education.

Bryant Pryor, MD

Originally from St. Louis, Mo., Dr. Pryor relocated to Indiana to complete his Internal Medicine residency in Indianapolis. Since moving to Indiana, he has met his wife, Lori, and began his practice at IU Health Arnett. Dr. Pryor’s communication and organization skills, learned through his volunteer experience as a youth, help him as he communicates one-on-one with his patients and their families. Usually a reserved individual, Dr. Pryor has found that within the medical environment his reservations evaporate. Dr. Pryor looks forward to serving the Greater Lafayette community in the ever-changing medical environment for years to come.

Arnold Requierme, MD

Dr. Requierme has been in practice as a Hospitalist in Indiana since 2005. He likes the fact that as a Hospitalist he is able to provide quality care directly to the inpatient arena through evidence-based medicine. He is married and has three children. Outside of his practice, Dr. Requierme is an avid enthusiast of outside photography and is a diehard Indianapolis Colts fan.

Jacob Thomas, MD

Dr. Thomas graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Southern Illinois University. He chose to be a hospitalist so that he could have more contact with patients and treat a wide variety of conditions. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine.

Kimberly Tyus, MD

Dr. Tyus joined IU Health Arnett in July 2010 after completing an Internal Medicine residency at Saint Louis University. She enjoys patient care with an emphasis on spiritual and emotional health. Her daily goal is to be a patient advocate by empowering every patient with knowledge of their health. Dr. Tyus is a native of the Midwest. She enjoys family, devotion, cooking and gardening.

Shiqing Yan, MD

Dr. Yan grew up in mainland China where he attended medical school and received residency and graduate training. He came to the United States on a National Institute of Health research fellowship. Dr. Yan loves taking care of patients in a hospital setting because of the challenge of dealing with complex medical problems. He also finds it rewarding to help patients get through a difficult time. He truly believes that patients are important members of their healthcare team and values their involvement in their care. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.
