Emergency Medicine

Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital Emergency Medicine is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to treat your medical emergency.

Emergency care is provided in a 21,000 square-foot facility with 35 private rooms large enough for patients and their family. Our multidisciplinary team of Emergency Medicine physicians has access to the most advanced diagnostic tools available, including dedicated X-ray and lab services. We use electronic tracking systems to facilitate each patient’s movement through triage and treatment.

Through research and clinical trials, in partnership with the Indiana University School of Medicine, we improve outcomes for our most critically ill and injured patients. In 2014, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital was verified as a Level III Trauma Center by the Verification Review Committee, an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons. As part of the IU Health system, we have the ability to transport patients to two Level I Trauma Centers equipped to treat the most severe and life-threatening conditions.

Critically injured children can be transferred and receive specialized care at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health, the only Pediatric Level I Trauma Center in Indiana.
