Radiology & Imaging
Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital Radiology & Imaging provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic testing and treatment for our patients. Our highly experienced staff uses the latest in modern equipment to perform non-invasive viewing of soft tissue, brain waves, blood vessels and the skeletal system. Our radiologists use advanced imaging technologies to diagnose and treat many conditions.
In addition to traditional X-rays and mobile X-rays, diagnostic imaging techniques include:
- Computed tomography (CT) scans
- Nuclear medicine
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans
- Bone densitometry
- Positron emitted tomography (PET) scans
- PAD Net testing for peripheral artery disease (PAD)
- Interventional radiology
Our radiology services provide safe care using the lowest doses of radiation possible for the most accurate results. Our physicians have advanced education in reading these images in order to make the most accurate diagnoses. We also use leading edge imaging technology in our operating rooms to support surgeons in performing minimally invasive procedures.
We are proud to use Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) technology, a patient record system that digitally acquires, stores and retrieves diagnostic images from radiology procedures, including:
- CT scan
- Nuclear medicine
PACS allows us to digitize medical images and process them for reading by a radiologist, in a fraction of the time it takes to process film. Radiologists can view these images from a PACS workstation anywhere in the hospital. Additionally, patient images and radiologists’ reports can be securely distributed on-demand through the Internet for referring physicians to review. No longer do patients have to wait for films to be manually passed through the diagnostic process; doctors can diagnose more quickly and begin patient treatment sooner than with traditional paper records.
