Our physicians provide minimally invasive surgical options for conditions such as uterine fibroids and urinary incontinence. We work with you to develop treatment plans that fit your lifestyle and health needs. We also offer specialized imaging services for women, including mammography and breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These screenings help you and your physician detect problems early, giving you more treatment options and the potential for improved outcomes.

Smoking Cessation

Smoking poses unique health risks for women, including increased risk for heart disease, lung disease and cervical cancer. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, smoking significantly increases risks for you and your baby. After menopause, smoking significantly increases risk of osteoporosis. To help women and their families quit smoking, IU Health Bedford Hospital offers smoking cessation classes.

Diet has a significant impact on a woman’s risk for heart disease and osteoporosis. Diet and nutrition are also crucial for maintaining a healthy weight, and nutrition takes on additional importance during pregnancy.
