Fruits and Vegetables in Season for July

Thanks to the Riley Power Program newsletter "Healthy Habits, Healthy Kids" July issue.

Here are the fruits and vegetable in season for July:

Apples
Blackberries
Blueberries
Broccoli
Cabbage
Carrots
Cherries
Green beans
Peaches

And here is a healthy recipe your kids might like!

Taco Soup

Ingredients:
1 large onion (chopped)
1pkg low-sodium taco mix
1 can corn (sweet or un-sweet)
1 can diced tomatoes (not-flavored)
1 can diced tomatoes (with
chiles/jalapenos peppers)
1 can black beans (un-drained)
1 can white beans (un-drained)
1 can fat-free refried beans
1 can fat-free chicken broth

Directions:
Soften onions in large pot with small amount of water. Add all remaining items in large pot and allow to simmer for 30min-1hr. Please remember to use all low-sodium canned items to help reduce salt. Add low fat sour cream and 2% shredded cheese.
