Residents in the Monticello area will have an opportunity to learn about surgical weight loss options during an upcoming seminar at Indiana University Health White Memorial Hospital.
The IU Health Arnett Bariatric & Medical Weight Loss team will host a free surgical weight loss seminar at 6 pm, Tuesday, February 26th in the Hibner Conference Rooms at the hospital.
The Lafayette-based program began offering laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding surgical weight loss treatment in July to patients dealing with morbid obesity. General surgeon Ruban Nirmalan, MD, leads the effort. Dr. Nirmalan is experienced in the laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgeries.
Participants in the surgical weight loss program use three key strategies to achieve their weight management goals before and after bariatric surgery: healthy diet, increased physical activity and accountability.
The program also offers insurance assistance for patients wanting to understand if their medical plans include coverage for bariatric surgery.
Space is limited and an RSVP is required. Please contact Bariatric Coordinator Bonnie Stockwell at 765.448.8143 or arnettbariatrics@iuhealth.org to reserve your space for the next seminar.
