Clinical Director

Patti Spieth, Advanced Practice RN received her bachelor’s degree at the University of Connecticut in psychology and her associate’s degree in nursing from Indiana State. She later went on to receive her master’s degree in nursing from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).She has been working as Clinical Director in the outpatient setting since 1998 and has been practicing as a nurse practitioner since 2004. Patti works with well with all types of patients but is particularly interested in women’s mental health issues in addition to adult mood and anxiety disorders.

Patti enjoys her coworkers and the combination of working one on one with patients and providing leadership to the outpatient staff. She is married with two young sons.


Doctors

Camila Arnaudo, MD received her bachelor’s degree in biology at Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts and her medical doctorate from University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. She completed her medical residency at the Harvard Longwood Residency Training Program and has been board certified in psychiatry since 2009. She worked for Centerstone and Columbus Regional Hospital as an inpatient psychiatrist prior to working at our outpatient clinic, beginning in 2011. Although she works well with all types of patients, her professional interests include perinatal mood and anxiety disorders as well as women’s mental health.

Camila enjoys working with patients to help them better understand themselves and improve their functioning. She has been living in Bloomington for 3 years and enjoys the many cultural opportunities available in town.


Steven M. Goad, MD received his undergraduate degree from the College of William & Mary, and his medical degree from the University of Virginia.  In between those degrees, he worked as a high school biology teacher and as a coach of several sports, and then as a linguistic consultant in East Africa, writing books to teach people how to read their own languages.  He completed his psychiatric residency training at the University of Virginia (Roanoke-Salem program), and he’s worked in both inpatient and outpatient environments in Michigan and in Missouri before coming to Indiana.  He has been board certified in Psychiatry since 1999.  He enjoys working with a wide variety of patients with a wide variety of challenges.

He is new to the Bloomington area and lives in the city with his wife.


Chad W. Schultheis, MD received his bachelor’s degree at Wabash College in biology and his medical doctorate from Indiana University. He completed his medical residency at Ohio State University Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He has been board certified in psychiatry since 1996. Chad worked in private practice in Bloomington for 10 years prior to working at the outpatient clinic, beginning in 2006. Although he works well with all types of patients, Chad’s professional interests include mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders, and adult ADD/ADHD.

Chad appreciates having been able to establish long-term professional relationships with his patients.

He lives in Bloomington with his family and 3 dogs, which have been named in honor of IU basketball. His 2 labs are named Kyle Hornsby and Dane Fife and beagle is Roberta Montgomery Knight.


Nurse Practitioners

Rebekah Moore, NP received her LPN degree from Ivy Tech Sellersburg in 2001 and her ASN degree from Ivy Tech State College Bloomington in 2007. She received her masters in nursing from IUPUI in 2012. She is board certified as a family psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Rebekah began work as a LPN at Southern Indiana Pediatrics before returning to the RN program. She worked on the IU Health OB unit for 6 years until recently graduating and starting her new career as a psychiatric NP. Although she works well with all types of patients, Rebekah’s professional interests include perinatal mood disorders/ postpartum disorders. She is a member of the Monroe County Post-Partum Depression Taskforce.

Rebekah is excited to be working at the outpatient clinic and establishing relationships with her patients.

She lives in Bloomington with her family and her dog. Rebekah has sung her whole life and performed in shows, including the Little Nashville Opry.


Therapists

Debbie Acito, MSW, LCSW received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Indiana University Bloomington and her master’s degree in social work from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She is board certified by the Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Counseling Board as well as certified as a Gestalt therapist from the Indianapolis Gestalt Institute. Debbie has been practicing in mental health for over 24 years and has been employed here for the past 6 years.

Debbie enjoys the wonderful and supportive people the she works with. She currently lives in Bloomington and has a great love for English Bulldogs.


Kendall Basore, MSW, LCSW received her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan and her master’s degree in social work at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She is certified by the Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board. Kendall has been working at this facility for over 4 years and previously completed her graduate internship here as well, working with the Daily Intensive Outpatient Program (DIOP). Although she mainly works with hospital employees, Kendall is also involved in our Daily Intensive Outpatient Program (DIOP) and sees individual clients as well.

Kendall appreciates meeting new people within the hospital system and helping people work through difficult struggles. She currently lives in Bloomington with her husband.

 


Miroslawa "Mirka" Berkvam, MSW, LCSW received her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Warsaw University in Poland and her master’s degree in social work from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She has been board certified by the Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Counseling Board since 1993, but has been working as a psychotherapist since 1978, both in Poland and in the U.S.A. Although she works well with all types of clients, she works mainly with adults and older adults suffering from stress, mood and anxiety disorders and has a vast experience with dual diagnosis. She has been with our outpatient clinic for almost 14 years and is also involved in our Daily Intensive Outpatient Program (DIOP).

Mirka’s therapeutic focus is eclectic with strong cognitive-behavioral components. She currently lives in Bloomington with her family.


Patty Lawson-Buckley, MS, LMFT, LMHC received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Indiana University Bloomington and is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Mental Health Counselor. She is board certified by the Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Counseling Board and hasbeen in practice 20 years. She has worked for this facility for 12 years and also maintains a private practice. Patty especially enjoys working with clients with relationship issues and/or anxiety, however she has worked well with numerous patients with other types of concerns.

Patty appreciates both the team she works with as well as the clients she has been fortunate to have. Outside of the clinical setting, Patty fosters her other interests, which include listening to live music and hiking.


Sherry Franklin, MSW, LCSW received her bachelor’s degree at Indiana University Bloomington and her master’s degree in social work at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She is certified by the Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Counseling Board. Prior to working in the clinical setting, she worked within the military and local governments as well as for non-profit organizations. From her previous jobs and experiences, her desire to become a clinical social worker evolved. She has been with IU Health Behavioral Health for more than 10 years. Although she works with all types of clients, Sherry has a special interest in working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorders.

Above all, Sherry’s favorite aspect of her job is supporting individuals through challenging times. Her approach is eclectic and client-centered. During her free time she enjoys a variety of outdoor activities.


Harold "Michael" Johnson, MA, LCSW received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa in English and education and his master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Iowa. He has been working with this facility since its opening in 1996 and he is certified by the Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Counseling Board. Although he works well with all types of patients, Michael’s professional interests include clients facing phase-of-life adjustment issues as well as spiritual issues. He is also involved in our Daily Intensive Outpatient Program (DIOP) and specializes in bio-feedback.

Michael takes a light-hearted approach to life and his work. Humor pervades his therapy and especially his interactions with his coworkers.


Karen C. Van Arsdale, MSW, LCSW received her bachelor’s degree at Indiana University Bloomington and her master’s degree in social work at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She was previously certified as a sex therapist and sex educator and worked for several years in private practice, working primarily with couples. She has been with IU Health Behavioral Health for more than 10 years and is board certified by the Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Counseling Board.

Of her job, Karen says, “I work with a great bunch of people. We work as a team and collaborate in the best interests of our patients.” Apart from her professional interests, Karen is a sports junkie and enjoys watching a variety of sporting events (except fishing!).
