Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital encourages employees to plan carefully to retire confidently. To assist with this goal, all eligible employees, upon their date of hire, are automatically enrolled in the IU Health Bloomington Hospital 403(b) Retirement Plan at a three percent salary deferral rate. Contributions are made on a pre-tax, tax deferred basis. This means that the employee’s taxable income is reduced while taxes are deferred until some point in the future, usually at retirement. You may also make contributions to your 403(b) retirement savings plan with after-tax dollars (as compared to your traditional 403(b) contributions, which are made on a pre-tax basis) or divide your 403b deduction: some as pre-tax (traditional) and some as post-tax (Roth).
