Posted on Nov 11, 2016INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana University Health has signed a lease agreement with Clinton County to assume operations of Frankfort Hospital, starting June 1, 2017.
The agreement was approved Thursday evening during a special joint meeting of the Clinton County Board of Commissioners and Clinton County Council. IU Health agreed to a five-year lease with renewal options for the 25-bed, county-owned hospital and affiliated medical offices.
“IU Health looks forward to becoming a partner with Clinton County to support its citizens’ health needs, enhance critical care in the community and ensure a smooth transition in operations at Frankfort Hospital,” said Al Gatmaitan, executive vice president and chief operating officer of IU Health.
The approximately 108 employees of Frankfort Hospital are critical to its future success, Gatmaitan said. Under its agreement with the county, IU Health pledges to employ all employees in good standing at current salary and recognize their existing service time and vesting under any new benefit programs.
IU Health has deep experience in running rural, community and urban hospitals in Indiana and will begin communicating with Frankfort Hospital’s physicians, employees and other hospital stakeholders in the coming weeks.
The operational lease for Frankfort Hospital is a natural next step for IU Health toward providing a full system of care in Clinton County. IU Health has served Clinton County for over 15 years with an IU Health Arnett Medical Office in Frankfort and for eight years with its IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
