IU Health urgent care centers opening in Broad Ripple, Hamilton County INDIANAPOLIS — Residents of Northside Indianapolis and Hamilton County will gain new options for highly skilled immediate care as Indiana University Health opens urgent care centers in Broad Ripple on Tuesday July 11 and Noblesville/Carmel in mid-August.

Both sites are “firsts” for IU Health. The urgent care center at 1036 Broad Ripple Avenue is the first for IU Health inside the I-465 loop. The Hamilton County site, along the border of Noblesville and Carmel at Hazel Dell Parkway and 146th Street, marks the first urgent care center for IU Health in fast-growing Hamilton County.

The Broad Ripple location is a fully remodeled former bank branch while the Hamilton County center will co-locate in a new, stand-alone building with an IU Health primary care clinic and rehabilitation and physical therapy offices.

Urgent care centers offer patients and their families conveniences not always found with hospitals and primary care offices, including accessible locations and easy parking, seven-days-a-week operating hours and short wait times, along with generally lower costs of care.

Urgent care centers focus on treating a range of less-acute ailments, including sprains and strains, cuts needing stitches, infections and allergic reactions, and broken bones using on-site x-ray machines.

Both sites will open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. No appointments are needed.

“We are proud to open our latest urgent care centers in Broad Ripple and Hamilton County, bringing new options for convenient and affordable care to these markets,” said Ron Stiver, president of IU Health system clinical services.  Usual wait times at an urgent care center are less than an hour (compared to two to three hours for a hospital emergency room), while typical out-of-pocket costs run $30 to $100 (or $300 to $375 at an ER).

“Our new urgent care center opening soon on Hazel Dell Road will complement the highly skilled care that Hamilton County residents are accustomed to receiving from IU Health facilities, including IU Health North and Saxony hospitals,” said Jon Goble, president of IU Health’s North Central Region.

IU Health’s four other urgent care centers in the Indianapolis area opened in 2015 and 2016 in Brownsburg (90 E. Garner Road), Greenwood (996 S. State Road 135), Lawrence/Fort Harrison (9165 Otis Ave.) and Plainfield (2455 E. Main St.).
