Achieving certification is one way in which experienced nurses document their clinical knowledge. To support the professional development of its nurses, Indiana University Health offers numerous on-site certification review courses and hosts paper and pencil exams from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and National Certification Corporation (NCC).
Staff nurses are not charged for the classes and attend in their off hours. Nurses outside IU Health are offered the courses for a registration fee ranging from $100 – 170 for one or two day courses. Contact hours average 6 – 6.5 hours per day. The typical review session lasts two days; however, some classes are scheduled over five to eight days, one to four hours each day. IU Health nurses are reimbursed for up to two certifications in their area of specialty upon passing professional certification exams. NOTE: IU Health North classes are free to North associates, discounte rates for affiliate hospitals. Contact Anne Core for more information acore@iuhealth.org
