Indiana Poison Center Treatment Information
Our services include:
- Advice. Our specially trained nurses and pharmacists explain what to do following exposure to a potentially harmful substance. Calls are free and confidential.
- Coordination. If you have a medical emergency, one of our poison specialists calls ahead to let the hospital know you are coming and what to expect.
- Education. We provide consumer-friendly information on poison risks, prevention and first aid. Our website also includes curriculum ideas for preschool and elementary children.
- Toxicology. As the only service of its type in Indiana, IU Health Medical Toxicology diagnoses and treats patients with all types of poisoning, including occupational and environmental exposures. We see adults and children in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
