Biography

Dr. Anthony Shanks is a maternal-fetal medicine specialist with expertise in caring for expectant mothers and their unborn babies. Shanks’ clinical interests include:

  • Medical complications of pregnancy
  • Preterm birth
  • Multiple gestations
  • Fetal ultrasound imaging
  • Amniocentesis
  • PUBS

He chose maternal-fetal medicine because he feels the opportunity to care for women with complicated pregnancies is unlike any other. It presents unique challenges involving the care of two patients simultaneously.

Shanks earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency and maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at Washington University.

In his free time he likes to spend time with his family, watch Indianapolis sports and travel.
