IU Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care

Whole-Person Approach

Considering the whole person, not just the cancer

When traditional medical professionals treat cancer, the focus is just that – the cancer, the tumor and the malignant group of cells that have invaded the body and spread. But cancer takes a toll that extends far beyond damaged tissue. At Indiana University Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care, we work to heal the whole person, not just the cancer. Emotionally, spiritually and physically.

Just as the mind, body and spirit are interwoven to create a whole person, we truly integrate our care to improve how cancer is fought. From the minute you walk through our doors, you meet with fellowship trained oncologists, naturopathic oncologists and registered dietitians. Plus, you have access to counselors, support groups and chaplains. Every day, this multidisciplinary team of specialists works together to share ideas and contribute to your individualized treatment plan.

Through our comprehensive cancer program, we offer dietary recommendations and nutritional supplementation, botanical medicine, physical therapy, homeopathy and acupuncture, among others. Counseling and other systems of emotional and social support are also provided to not only strengthen cancer patients, but their families, as well.

All in one place

Our facility has everything on-site, including physicians, support staff and the latest equipment and technology needed to efficiently and thoroughly battle your cancer. In addition, surgery and rehabilitation services are conveniently located on-site at IU Health Goshen Hospital. This unique, integrated approach means that a physician scheduling chemotherapy for a patient sits across the table or down the hall from a specialist who can suggest a mind-body approach or a dietary change to reduce side effects. By making this available all in one place, you and your family will be less stressed, since you avoid driving to many locations for multiple treatments. Here, you always come to the same familiar place and talk with the same friendly people. It’s how we become an extended family of support for you.
