Hospitalist Program
Hospitalist – Caring for You in the Hospital
To ensure you receive superior care while at the hospital, we have hospitalists who look after you during your stay. These physicians and nurse practitioners are skilled in the latest treatments, and focus exclusively on you and your care while at the hospital.
Each hospitalist is a specialist in internal medicine who cares only for hospitalized patients. At Indiana University Health Goshen Hospital, we provide Apogee hospitalists. They are true hospitalists who do not have medical practices outside the hospital. This enables them to focus exclusively on your inpatient care while you are in the hospital.
You can expect to see your hospitalist you at least once a day, or more often if necessary. You and your family can rely on your hospitalist to keep you informed of tests, their results, overall progress of your treatment and your anticipated discharge date and time.
Your hospitalist also works closely with your primary care physician to understand your needs, as well as your past medical history. When you are discharged from the hospital, your primary care physician receives a complete summary of your hospitalization. This strong partnership between your physicians ensures a smooth transition of your care from the hospital to your physician.
