Lung Education

We want to help improve people's lives, one breath at a time. That's why our pulmonary rehabilitation program at Indiana University Health Goshen Hospital offers free education for those with breathing difficulties. Our Cardiopulmonary Services team also offers encouragement and treatment for severe and chronic lung disease and conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, asthma, chronic bronchitis, cystic/pulmonary fibrosis and other lung-related problems.

Our goal is to improve your quality of daily living by building your breathing strength and endurance. We offer exercise programs for those with lung disease and education about oxygen and CPAP/BIPAP machine use for sleep apnea. In addition, we incorporate breathing techniques with exercises to reduce shortness of breath.

Lung education goals

Each program is tailored to fit your needs – even if you suffer from the most severe pulmonary diseases. We want to help you:

  • Better understand your disease.
  • Reduce your emergency visits and hospital stays.
  • Reduce your suffering and family dependency.
  • Improve your quality of daily living.

  • Kick Ash program

For those needing additional support, we offer the Kick Ash program at IU Health Goshen Hospital. This six-week comprehensive smoking cessation program helps those people with nicotine addiction. The program is individually tailored for your needs, with the goal of quitting tobacco forever.

The Kick Ash program instructors are all certified to teach this program. They not only assist you with the addictive side of nicotine, but the psychological, physical and social aspects, as well. We keep class sizes relatively small so you get the help and support you need to quit. Our fees are based on the number of participants in the program.
