Circle of Caring Birthplace
It’s difficult to describe how special the birth of your child is – full of challenges and joys, waiting and welcoming. The place where you give birth should be just as special. By choosing the Indiana University Health Goshen Hospital Circle of Caring Birthplace, you are assured of the best health care available, plus friendly, professional advice and support. Right from the start, we work to make your experience memorable. We know how important the birth of a child is to you, so we devote extra attention to your comfort. At the IU Health Goshen Hospital Circle of Caring Birthplace, our facilities and care are designed around you – and your family.
The birth of a child is a major event for the whole family. The family-centered approach at IU Health Goshen Hospital Circle of Caring Birthplace accommodates and encourages participation by all family members – whether it’s being present during delivery or visiting the newest member. Our care focuses on keeping parents and baby together. That means dad can participate in the delivery, and he's welcome to stay the night. Both mom and baby are cared for by one nurse (per shift) in order to provide support to both new and experienced parents. A nursery is also available if you need a rest or your baby has special needs. You can have your baby in your room with you as much as you desire, and you determine how much privacy and visitation you want. Be assured that during your stay at the IU Health Goshen Hospital Circle of Caring Birthplace, you and your baby are under 24-hour surveillance.
A friend to you and your baby
Our Baby-Friendly designation is more than just a name. It means you are surrounded by the kind of health care that's essential for your baby's optimal health.
IU Health Goshen Hospital is the only birthing facility in our region recognized by the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative for the optimal level of care we offer mothers and their babies. The distinction certifies that we provide breastfeeding mothers with the information, confidence and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies.
The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative is a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund. The initiative recognizes hospitals and birthing facilities that have completed a 10-step process to establish policies and practices that encourage parents to make informed choices about how they feed and care for their babies.
