IU Health Goshen Physicians Gastroenterology
At Indiana University Health Goshen Gastroenterology, we offer state-of-the-art, comprehensive gastroenterological services. Our highly trained gastroenterologists are board certified and bring decades of experience to the practice. They work with a team of well-trained healthcare providers to deliver complete care, from preventive services through screening, diagnosis and treatment.
Your primary physician may refer you to us for:
- Screening colonoscopies
- Colon cancer/colon polyps
- Chronic GERD/Barrett's
- Liver problems
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Chronic diarrhea
- Any gastrointestinal complaints
Thorough diagnostic testing
During your first visit, we review your medical history and complete a physical examination, using the latest diagnostic tools to clearly define your condition. One of our gastroenterologists evaluates your results to develop a treatment plan based on your specific needs.
We complete certain procedures in our office for added convenience. For example, we regularly perform in-office capsule endoscopy, a new technology used to obtain video photographs of the small intestine by swallowing a special vitamin-sized pill. Plus, we conduct urea breath tests to diagnose the presence of Helicobacter pylori bacteria, which can cause inflammation, ulcers and atrophy of the stomach.
Colonoscopies and other outpatient procedures
We are trained and experienced in a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. With these procedures, a physician uses a camera on a flexible tube to non-invasively examine your digestive tract. Completed within hours, the doctor then discusses the findings with you immediately following the procedure.
Outpatient procedures include:
- Upper GI endoscopy (EGD)
- Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
- Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
- Percutaneous liver biopsies
- Esophageal manometry
- 48-hour “Bravo” esophageal pH study
Treatment for a wide range of conditions
Since we focus solely on gastroenterology, our physicians specialize in the latest therapies and newest technology to treat a broad spectrum of digestive disorders and liver diseases. These include:
- Barrett’s esophagus
- Crohn’s disease
- Ulcerative colitis
- Hepatitis C
- Celiac disease
Plus, through our IU Health Goshen Acid Reflux Center, we provide the only comprehensive treatment program in the area for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), also known as acid reflux. In all cases, our experts work with you one-on-one to decide which treatment option is best for you, whether it be medications, surgery or dietary changes.
Convenience and comfort
At IU Health Goshen Gastroenterology, we strive to give all patients the earliest available appointment, usually within a week. And to further make your experience with us as positive as possible, we offer conscious sedation, allowing us to provide the most-up-to-date endoscopic procedures in a comfortable, safe and friendly atmosphere. In fact, our patients are pleasantly surprised by the relative ease of their experiences, often spending less than one hour at their visit.
