Constantly inspired by the spirit and determination of our patients, Indiana University Health is proud of the unique patient and family experiences created through our partnership with the Indianapolis Zoo.
Located in downtown Indianapolis White River State Park, the Zoo is home to five breathtaking animal exhibits including forests, oceans, marine mammals, desert and plains. The Zoo is also home to an aquarium and botanical garden. The Zoo creates endless explorations for patients and families of all ages.
The Zoo and Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health are continually growing. From the newly opened Tiger Forest at the Zoo to the addition of the Simon Family Tower at Riley Hospital for Children, 2011 has marked an exciting year!
Elephants are known to be wise, intelligent and strong. Friends of IU Health hold a special place in our hearts for the African Elephant Exhibit and the partnership allows for Riley Hospital at IU Health patients and families to have unique experiences.
Riley Hospital for Children at IU Heath also offers unique behind-the-scenes access for close members of the Riley family. Patients and their families have the opportunity to get up close and personal with Zoo animals, providing a much-needed break for some of our strongest patients.
One of Riley Hospital for Children’s most popular programs, Art Therapy, is celebrating the Indianapolis Zoo this month by focusing their creativity on elephant themed paintings. But here’s the cool part: the Zoo is celebrating us too! Throughout the month of June, the Zoo’s artistic elephants are putting their trunks to work to create paintings for patients.
