Psychological Assessment for Transplants

Psychological issues arise before, during, and after organ transplantation. Dr. Audrey Krause, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Indiana University School of Medicine, discusses the role that psychological assessment plays in the extensive process that occurs before listing a patient as eligible for transplant. Also discussed are exclusion and inclusion criteria, including untreated anxiety, depression, or substance abuse. Dr. Krause also describes how working with patients who have compliance issues aid in the overall success of the transplantation.
