Swallowing Therapy for Head & Neck Cancer

In this video, Dr. Michael Moore—head and neck surgeon at Indiana University Health—describes the signs and symptoms of head and neck cancer and discusses new techniques (i.e., transoral laser microsurgery and robotic surgery) to help cure it, improve swallowing, and shorten surgical time and recovery. With the improved surgical techniques and a multidisciplinary team of speech therapists, medical oncologists, and radiologists, swallowing function can be expedited and survival outcomes improved. Clinical trials are being conducted to assess swallowing and quality-of-life outcomes.
