Treating Prostate Enlargements with HoLEP Laser Procedure

HoLEP, or holmium laser enucleation of the prostate, is a minimally invasive procedure to treat benign enlargement of the prostate (BPH). As men age, glands that were microscopic can begin to enlarge, eventually obstructing the prostate and causing difficulty urinating. Dr. James Lingeman—Urologist at IU Health and Professor of Clinical Urology at the Indiana University School of Medicine—explains how the innovative HoLEP procedure, first performed in the U.S. at IU Health Methodist, reduces prostate enlargement without having to undergo open surgery.
