Cancer services at IU Health La Porte Hospital are fully accredited by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer (COC), a national gold standard in cancer care. In order to meet the standards for CoC approval, each cancer program must undergo a rigorous evaluation and performance review as well as meet 12 Eligibility Criteria Requirements and 34 Cancer Program Standard Requirements. Facilities with approved cancer programs must also undergo an on-site review every three years to maintain their approval.
With world-renowned cancer specialists, comprehensive services and convenient office locations, cancer patients benefit from the diverse strengths of IU Simon Cancer Center programs. Innovative research and an emphasis on cancer prevention further establish the IU Health cancer services among the finest in the nation.
Patients needing cancer therapies or complex surgery do better if they are treated in medical centers that have a high volume of these types of specialized services. IU Health has Indiana's highest volume for cancer treatment and surgery.
