Indiana University Health Methodist Behavioral Health treats adults with psychiatric problems that affect their relationships, productivity and happiness. Stress reactions, suicidal thoughts and family and marital problems are treated, as well as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia and other psychiatric illnesses. Therapies include problem solving, goal setting, effective communication and stress management techniques.
Inpatient Program
Our adult inpatient program is designed to help individuals 18 and older who require acute treatment, a comprehensive diagnostic work-up and constant monitoring but are capable of participating in therapeutic activities.
We use a multi-disciplinary treatment team approach and offer comprehensive diagnostic services and individual treatment plans. Intensive therapies may include individual, family and group sessions. Patients are grouped according to the severity of their illnesses and are placed in the least restrictive setting that is appropriate.
Often physical problems make behavioral problems worse as patients struggle to deal with limitations and frustrations. Inpatient program staff members use appropriate therapies to treat depression and other psychological issues resulting from traumatic injury, organ transplant, cancer, heart attack, stroke or other medical ailments.
Partial Hospitalization Program
The partial hospitalization program is designed for patients who require intensive treatment but who can function outside of the inpatient structure. The program provides a balance between structure and independence.
Process group therapy is the foundation of this program. Elements of cognitive behavioral therapy are included in all programming. A board-certified psychiatrist meets with each patient at least bi-weekly and provides medical direction. Scheduling is flexible, based on the patient's personal and treatment needs.
Outpatient Program
Patients who can function independently but who need help working through problems can benefit from outpatient services offered at our affiliated satellite offices. People who are under the care of a psychiatrist or family care physician are often referred for diagnostic evaluation, consultations on medication and individual, group or family counseling.
