Children & Adolescents

Indiana University Health Behavioral Health offers a wide range of behavioral care and substance abuse services for children and adolescents ages four to 17. Experienced behavioral care professionals and physicians provide outpatient treatment at our affiliated facilities conveniently located throughout the Indianapolis metropolitan area.

Interaction with others is key to our programs because it is vital to rewarding relationships throughout life. Patients are encouraged to socialize with other children the same age and to express themselves, communicate appropriately and build relationships. Group therapy sessions help patients realize they are not alone and to learn by doing.

Parental involvement is required in all programs. Through active participation in treatment, parents learn how to help their child or teen deal constructively with problems. Parents also learn better ways to provide a supportive atmosphere for healing. In the partial and inpatient programs, parents are also required to participate in discharge planning to ensure that their child receives any necessary follow up care.
