Eating Healthy Day

Join us for the Start Eating Health Day events on November 1 and 2, 2011!

Poor eating habits have become a way of life in America, placing millions of people at risk of heart disease and stroke. Indiana University Health Cardiovascular, in partnership with American Heart Association and American Health Network, will be tackling this nationwide problem by holding cooking demonstrations throughout Indianapolis to help Americans learn to buy, prepare and eat healthier foods. We believe reintroducing people to their kitchens will help avoid unhealthy fast foods and processed meals.

Fewer than half of all Americans eat the recommended amount (5 servings/day) of fruits and vegetables at least five or more days a week. Studies have shown by self-preparing meals, fruit and vegetable intake increases. We believe by helping people relearn the benefits of eating more nutritious fruits and vegetables and how to prepare them, we can continue this success.

As part of the American Heart Association’s nationwide initiative to empower Americans to live healthier, IU Health and American Health Network are launching innovative community programs focused on preparing and eating healthier meals and tips on how to live an overall healthier life style.
