Our neurologists specialize in all areas of neurological care including stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders and other cognitive conditions. Our neurosurgeons offer the widest range of neurosurgical procedures available in Indiana within our dedicated neurosurgical suites. These sophisticated suites contain real time neuro-imaging and integrated navigation technology to support our minimally invasive spinal and cranial surgeries.

Physically connected to the new IU Health Neuroscience Center, IU Health Methodist provides the best doctors, the most advanced treatment, and the latest research breakthroughs to our patients. The Center is the first of its kind in Indiana where multiple neurological specialties are joined together in one dedicated location. Neurology

Neurologists at IU Health Methodist Hospital are experts in their field, specializing in all areas of neurological care including stroke, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, movement disorders and other cognitive conditions. Our collaborative team includes nationally recognized interventional radiologists that are available around the clock to treat cerebrovascular conditions. Our dedicated six bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and hospital neuro telemetry service allows for continuous EEG monitoring of our patients throughout the hospital. 

Neuro-oncology

As Indiana’s only neuro-oncology program, IU Health Methodist Hospital houses the Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) system, the latest in stereotactic radiosurgery and the only Perfexion system in Indiana. Perfexion uses gamma rays to treat cancerous and noncancerous brain diseases and delivers the highest level of precision in radiosurgical treatment of brain and skull-based diseases. Our Brain Tumor Program is dedicated to finding the right treatment for each patient through expert clinical care, surgical and radiation options, and groundbreaking clinical trials; each patient is offered personalized care.

Neurosurgery

Neurosurgeons at IU Health Methodist Hospital are on the leading edge of treating neurological conditions and use the latest innovations and techniques in neurosurgery to improve patient outcomes and safety. Our dedicated IU Health Methodist Neurosurgical Suites feature the most advanced imaging technologies, surgical navigation systems, and tools for minimally invasive and difficult-to-perform surgeries. These include, cranial procedures, minimally invasive surgery, 3D imaging and computer assisted surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery and deep brain stimulation.

Spine Surgery

If your physician recommends surgery to treat your spine, neck or back condition, our surgeons at IU Health Methodist Hospital are experts and innovators in spine surgery. Our primary goal is to provide the safest, most effective treatments available. We are committed to developing new ways to deliver treatments using minimally invasive surgical procedures when appropriate, and utilize image-guided surgery to generate the safest outcomes. 

Stroke

IU Health Methodist Hospital is the first and only Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) in Indiana, as certified by The Joint Commission, a national accrediting body for healthcare organizations. This designation is the highest level of accreditation reserved for preeminent facilities that focus on all levels of stroke care. CSC certification means we meet strict performance and outcome standards and provide 24/7 onsite access to the most experienced specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, and interventional neuroradiology (IR) who provide treatment for any type of stroke episode, including hemorrhagic strokes caused by aneurysms or arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Many stroke patients require IR procedures to reduce their risk of severe long term injury or death, the Interventional Radiologists at IU Health Methodist perform numerous clot retrieval, coiling, and stenting  procedure yearly, placing them among the top 3% providers in the nation.
