When visiting Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital, there are several things you can do to make your visit more efficient and comfortable. To learn about general hospital guidelines visit our section For Patients.
Transplant surgery requires you to be available at all times for surgery. We ask that you make travel plans ahead of time and have a phone near you at all times. You may receive a call at any time, day or night, to notify you that an organ match is available.
When you receive a call, you and your transplant team have a limited amount of time to decide whether to accept the donated organ. You must also come to IU Health Methodist Hospital immediately. To help you be ready, pack a suitcase and an extra 24-hour supply of all medications ahead of time.
