Geriatric Behavioral Unit (Bridges)
Bridges Senior Treatment Program
It is a simple fact of life that we all grow older. And as we grow older, we find ourselves faced with many difficult changes. The combination of declining physical health, diminished mental processes, separation from lifetime companions, and the loss of personal independence can become overwhelming. As a result, many older people find themselves battling with confusion, depression, mood swings and withdrawal. Life can reach the point where even the simplest everyday activities become hard to handle.
Such realities can be overwhelming, leading many families to assume the future is hopeless, but this doesn’t have to be the case. Many of these symptoms have a medical cause and can be treated. That’s why Indiana University Health Morgan Hospital established Bridges Senior Treatment Program.
Bridges Can Help
Bridges Senior Treatment Program is a 10-bed inpatient unit which provides psychiatric, diagnostic and treatment services for patients who are facing the struggles of the aging process. The program focuses on the change patients experience in their emotional or behavioral health. These problems may include depression, anxiety and aging adjustments. Bridges supports the uniqueness of each patient through a comprehensive plan of individualized treatment, structured daily activities, individual, group and family therapy as well as medical care. The average length of stay is 10-14 days. Visitation hours for authorized family and friends are 1-2pm and 6-8pm on weekdays and 2-4pm and 6-8pm on weekends.
