IU Health Neuroscience specialists treat a variety of neurological conditions with sophisticated technology and unrivaled expertise. Our services include:
Back and Neck
We use sophisticated imaging technology and, whenever possible, minimally invasive techniques to treat a variety of back and neck conditions. These conditions include spinal tumors, injuries and degenerative conditions, as well as scoliosis.
Led by world-renowned experts and highly specialized doctors, our neurology team treats a wide range of neurological disorders. These disorders include stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disorders and infectious diseases.
Our team includes the state’s only two fellowship-trained neuro-oncologists, plus neurosurgeons, neuropathologists, neuropsychologists, radiation oncologists. Together they deliver the highest level of care to people suffering from brain and spinal tumors.
Our highly skilled neurosurgeons are well trained in all treatment methods for the full range of brain-related conditions, including brain aneurysms, tumors and injuries.
Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
We offer comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services for patients recovering from neurological disorders and injuries. Physiatrists—or doctors who specialize in restoring optimal function to people with injuries of the bones, tissues, muscles or nervous system—play an important role in our program. They work with other rehabilitation specialists to treat people who have low-back pain, pinched nerves, strains and sprains, whiplash and neck pain, arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Services
Our physical and occupational therapy services provide exceptional care for patients of all ages. We enable them to recover functions and skills so they can return to active lives and independent lifestyles. Our services include audiology, orthotics, speech pathology, therapeutic recreation and wound care.
Our dedicated professionals are committed to helping patients manage mental disorders and symptoms of other medical conditions like dementia. Our staff is expertly trained in treating conditions resulting from such conditions as anxiety, depression, personality disorder, stress and substance abuse.
More than 5,700 trauma patients are admitted to IU Health statewide each year. Our doctors work in Indiana's largest adult Level I Trauma Center and the state’s only pediatric Level I Trauma Center. We are also home to the nation's largest adult neurocritical care unit for the most advanced monitoring and treatment of people with brain injuries and other neurological diseases.
