Bloomington Hospital Foundation celebrates 50 years of local impact
The Bloomington Hospital Foundation is kicking off 2017 in celebration of 50 years of making a local impact on health care.
“Over the years, the Bloomington Hospital Foundation has given each of us an opportunity to give back to our community, to be an active participant in something much bigger than ourselves and to know that our donations – large and small – have had a direct impact on the quality of health care for our friends and neighbors,” says Foundation Board Member Winston Shindell. “It brings us together for a common cause that is beneficial to all.”
In celebration of this important milestone and the accomplishments of the Foundation and the generosity of this community, the Bloomington Hospital Foundation will share 50 Stories for 50 Years throughout 2017. It will also share 50 Photos for 50 Years on its Facebook page. And later this year, the Foundation will kick off a giving campaign looking for donations of $50 with all pledges serving a local common cause to be determined.
The 50 Photos for 50 Years on the Foundation’s Facebook page will feature photos from the archives to present day and everything in between. “It’s a fun, light-hearted way to commemorate this significant anniversary,” says Jon Barada, president, Bloomington Hospital Foundation.
The 50 Stories for 50 Years will take the form of news releases, blog entries, website updates, speaking engagements and Facebook postings. Story content will include personal stories about the many people who have built the Foundation into what it is today – and the stories of local patients and families who have benefitted from this community’s kindnesses.
The 50 Stories for 50 Years will also include forward-looking features as well. “A 50-year anniversary isn’t just an opportunity to review our past,” says Barada, “but also compels us to look to the future and the next 50 years. At the Foundation, we choose not to define ourselves by how much money we raise; rather we will measure our success by the impact we make in the lives of those served by our mission. We have done so for 50 years and look forward to making an impact in the next 50 years and beyond.”
Thanks to this community’s generosity, the Bloomington Hospital Foundation has positively impacted local healthcare since 1967. Dedicated to its mission of supporting IU Health Bloomington to be one of the best hospitals in the state of Indiana, the Foundation and its 21-member Board of Directors are passionate about leading philanthropic efforts to enhance the quality of local healthcare and improve the lives of patients in the Bloomington area.
