—Cancer patients and cancer survivors have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease than the general population. Some cancer treatments, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy, can be toxic to the cardiovascular system by damaging or killing the cells. This is known as cardiovascular toxicity.
