| IndianapolisEarlier this week, Indiana Governor Mike Pence joined Indiana University Health executives and clinicians to officially open the new Health & Wellness Center at the Indiana Government Center.

The 8,000 square foot clinic, staffed by IU Health Physicians clinicians, is the first medical center to be housed at the Government Center. The on-site clinic will serve State employees covered under the State of Indiana Health plan.

“The State of Indiana is committed to giving employees the resources they need to take control of their health and well-being,” said Governor Pence. “Having access to the high quality of IU Health conveniently available right where you work is just one more way we are helping employees invest in their health.”

The Health & Wellness Center, which began seeing patients on Tuesday, June 3, provides a variety of services, including:

  • Preventive care
  • Wellness education
  • Disease education and counseling
  • Health coaching
  • Lab services and medications
  • Immediate care
  • Primary care

“This center is unique because of its focus on prevention and wellness,” said Dr. Michael Kane, an IU Health family medicine physician and psychiatrist who will treat patients at the clinic.

The Health and Wellness Center is the latest resource available to State employees as Indiana continues down the path towards healthier lifestyles. In 2013, Governor Pence launched Healthy Lifestyles, an online wellness portal, and Castlight, a cost and quality search tool for healthcare, to help employees become better consumers and more engaged in their own healthcare.

Other partners involved in the creation of the new Health & Wellness Center at the Indiana Government Center include IU Health Business Solutions, Repucare, Keystone Construction, Brenner Design and Young at Heart Pharmacy.

The Health & Wellness Center at the Indiana Government Center is open during business hours, Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment or learn more, visit www.investinyourhealthindiana.com/HAWC or call 317.963.2035.
