An IU Health Arnett Hospital Release
— Lafayette, IN — Indiana University Health Arnett and Horizon Oncology are pleased to announce that Ajita Narayan, MD will join our Cancer Services department in July. Dr. Narayan joins us from Lafayette Cancer Care where she practiced since September 2009. She will begin seeing patients at Horizon Oncology on July 25.
Dr. Narayan received her medical degree from Goa Medical College and her PhD from Tulane University Medical Center. She then finished a post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Michigan. Dr. Narayan completed a residency in Internal Medicine at St. Luke's Hospital and a fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center.
She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Medical Oncology and Hematology.
Dr. Narayan's practice philosophy is to implement discoveries from cutting edge science and research to individualize therapeutic options for each patient. She first became interested in pursuing a career in oncology and hematology, when, as a medical student, she cared for a young woman who had an acute leukemia.
Dr. Narayan also enjoys spending time with her husband, a professor at Purdue University, and their menagerie of dogs, cats and fish. She enjoys cooking, gardening, studying Indian classical dance, and listening to Indian classical music and vintage jazz.
