IU Health Goshen awards grants to area nonprofits
May 29, 2012

GOSHEN, Ind.—IU Health Goshen will award a total of $206,000 to 56 nonprofit organizations in Goshen and surrounding communities on Wednesday, May 30 at 2:30 p.m. in the Arbor Conference Center of IU Health Goshen Hospital. Every year, the IU Health Goshen Board of Directors designates a percentage of the previous year’s operational budget for the hospital’s Community Benefit Fund (CBF), through which the grants are distributed each May.

IU Health Goshen has awarded approximately $1.7 million in grants through the CBF since the fund’s inception in 1998. “We believe in a culture of generosity here,” says IU Health Goshen Vice President of Marketing and Development Larry Brooks. “The hospital’s mission to ‘improve the health of our communities’ means we strive to provide outstanding medical care, of course, but we also want to be involved in the social and economic health of our communities as well. This is one way to contribute.”

Grant recipients are organizations whose work meets the needs of the community and whose mission is consistent with that of IU Health Goshen. Organizations can apply for project grants and matching grants. The fund does not support capital acquisitions, building projects or construction projects.
