Longtime otolaryngologist joins IU Health La Porte Physicians, welcomes new patients

Longtime area doctor Neil Wangstrom, MD, joined Indiana University Health La Porte Physicians and welcomes new patients at his La Porte office.
Wangstrom provides diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the ear, nose and throat for patients of all ages. He treats both medical and surgical aspects of otolaryngology, which includes head and neck surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He received his medical degrees from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine and Washington University School of Medicine. Wangstrom completed his residency in otolaryngology and two years of general surgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics.
Family Nurse Practitioner Christine Maddox, AANP, joins Wangstrom to provide comprehensive care to patients. Maddox has more than 20 years of nursing experience, and is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Nurse practitioners are primary healthcare professionals who are prepared through advanced master degree-level education and training to provide a wide variety of preventative, acute and chronic healthcare services to individuals of all ages.
Joining Wangstrom as well is audiologist Jessica Barr, Au.D, who offers the public experience and expertise specific to fitting and dispensing hearing aids. In addition, she provides newborn hearing screenings and diagnostic hearing evaluations for children and adults of all ages. Barr provides custom hearing protection for musicians, and custom swim plugs for swimmers or children and adults who have ear tubes. She provides counseling for patients with hearing loss.
