IU Health lifts flu-related hospital visitor restrictions at its Indianapolis hospitals
INDIANAPOLIS—Due to the low number of positive influenza cases throughout the Indianapolis-area, Indiana University Health has lifted the flu-related hospital visitor restrictions at its Indianapolis hospitals.
Effective immediately, visitor restrictions have been lifted at the following facilities:
IU Health Methodist Hospital
IU Health University Hospital
Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health
IU Health Simon Cancer Center
However, because babies, especially those who are ill or premature, are at higher risk of serious complications, IU Health will continue to limit visitors at its Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs).
IU Health initiated the flu-related hospital visitor restrictions in January to protect patients, visitors and team members from unnecessary potential exposure to the flu virus.
The health system encourages all visitors to use their best judgment when visiting a patient in the hospital. In order to protect patients, visitors should be healthy. In addition, all are encouraged to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer often.
