The Orthopedics Team of IU Health Physicians is proud to provide highly skilled and patient-centered musculoskeletal care for you and your family. Orthopedics encompasses a vast range of conditions, and our orthopedic surgeons are available to meet your needs. IUHP orthopedic surgeons are fellowship trained in the areas of hip and knee joint replacement surgery, sports medicine, hand and upper extremity surgery, foot and ankle surgery, orthopedic trauma, and pediatric orthopedic surgery. Being an integral part of IU Health allows us to assist you in various aspects of your care, from your diagnostic imaging to your physical therapy and rehabilitation process. Our Team of Physicians
Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine
Dr. Rob Klitzman returns to his home state of Indiana, specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. He focuses on the treatment of all athletes from teens to weekend warriors. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, and knee. He also specializes in injury prevention and sideline treatment of injuries.
Dr. Klitzman earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma and completed his orthopedic surgeon residency at Northwestern University in Chicago. His sports medicine training includes serving as an intern from the Chicago Bulls. As a resident he trained with team physicians of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Northwestern University. His sports medicine fellowship was completed at Baylor University, during which he was an assistant team physician for the Houston Texas and Astros.
Foot & Ankle Surgery
Dr. Jeff Wu specializes in the treatment of injuries and conditions affecting the ankle and foot. His clinic interests include the treatment of athletic and traumatic injuries, corrective surgery for foot and ankle deformities, and operative and non-operative management of arthritic conditions.
Dr. Wu is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. He graduated from Duke University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He then graduated from the Ohio State University College of Medicine, followed by his orthopedic residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Foot & Ankle surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He was on staff at Cleveland Clinic Florida prior to returning to Indiana to join IUHP Orthopedics.
Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery
Dr. Mike DiDonna has joined IUHP Orthopedics, specializing in Hand Surgery. He is board certified and also holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. His clinical interests include distal radius and scaphoid fractures, dislocations, carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist arthroscopy, and arthritic conditions of the wrist.
Dr. DiDonna is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Following his orthopedic residency training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, he completed the Mary S. Stern Hand Surgery at the University of Cincinnati. Prior to joining IUHP Orthopedics he was in private practice in El Paso, Texas.
Hip & Knee Joint Replacement
Dr. Phil Ireland joined IUHP Orthopedics in July, 2011, bringing over 30 years of experience in lower extremity joint replacement surgery with him. Dr. Ireland uses innovative surgical navigation technology in the operating room and his clinical areas of specialty include primary hip and knee replacement and revision, minimal invasive surgical techniques, and blood replacement strategies.
Dr. Ireland completed both his undergraduate and medical school education at Indiana University. He also completed his orthopedic residency training at Indiana University and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He was formerly the Medical Staff President at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. He is a participating faculty member for the IU Adult Reconstruction Fellowship.
Dr. R. Michael Meneghini returned to his home state of Indiana in July, 2010, and is the Director of Joint Replacement for IU Health Saxony Hospital. He is also director of the IU Adult Reconstruction Fellowship. He has a special interest in clinical and biomechanical orthopedic research and is the author of over 35 scientific articles on hip and knee replacement. His main research interests involve improving patient outcomes in hip and knee replacement and improvements in implant design.
Dr. Meneghini received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute in Terre Haute, Indiana. He then attended medical school at IU School of Medicine. After his orthopedic residency at Rush University, he completed a Hip & Knee Reconstruction fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. He is board certified by the ABOS and is a member of the prestigious Knee Society.
Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery
Dr. George Gantsoudes specializes in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at Riley Hospital. His clinical interests include treatment of pediatric sports injuries, limb deformity, clubfoot, and cerebral palsy. He graduated from the University of Michigan and completed medical school at the University of Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago. His orthopedic residency trained was obtained at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, followed by a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery and Scoliosis Fellowship at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, CA.
Dr. Shyam Kishan specializes in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at Riley Hospital. His clinical interests include scoliosis and spine deformity, pediatric limb deformity, hip disorders, and trauma. He graduated from medical school at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research at Madras University, India. His orthopedic residency was completed at New Jersey Medical School, followed by a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery and Scoliosis Fellowship at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, CA.

IUHP Sports Medicine physicians are fellowship trained in primary care sports medicine. Our orthopedic surgeons and primary care sports medicine physicians work collaboratively to treat athletic injuries and conditions of all ages.

What to Expect
What to Bring:
- For your initial visit, please bring your insurance card and a form of photo identification.
- If you have and any imaging studies (x-rays, CT scans, MRI scans) in the past, please bring the actual studies (either on CD or on film) in addition to the report.
- If you have had any previous treatment or surgery, it would be helpful to bring any records you may have in your possession with you. You may also request that your doctor fax or mail any records to our office in advance. Our fax number is 317.678.3222.
- If applicable, please bring a list of your current medications.
The Day of Your Visit:
- Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early in order to process your insurance information and fill out a new patient questionnaire.
- If our Orthopedist feels it is necessary to have z-rays taken, then this will be done in our office. We have radiology services in the orthopedic suite so our patients do not have to go far or to another location when getting x-rays.
Other Services:
Rehabilitation Services: There is an IU Health Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation services facility adjacent to our Saxony office in Suite 2100. If this is a convenient location for you, we can help make arrangements for you to schedule your therapy here.
Durable Medical Equipment (DME): We are able to provide DME (crutches, boots, braces, immobilizers, splints, etc.) through an outside company the day of your visit. If this is something your physician prescribes, you have the option of getting the DME item here or you may get a prescription and obtain it through an outside medical supply company. Depending on the item and your insurance plan, these items may or may not be covered. Please be aware that the billing for any DME goods are done directly through the vendor and not through IU Health.
