Bariatric Surgery

Not wanting to be left behind, on the bike trails or in life, Gary takes charge of his life.

Gary didn’t want to be left behind, on the bike trails or in life.

His two daughters lived away from home, one in college and had just graduated from college. His wife was more active than he, and they talked often about their goals in life, and what they wanted for their future.

Gary wanted to feel better, and he wanted to be off of his blood pressure medication.

So, in July 2011 Gary had bariatric surgery, the gastric sleeve, at IU Health Bariatric & Medical Weight Loss.

Three months post-op, Gary had lost 51 pounds since surgery, and his overall health was much better. In fact, he needed to make an appointment with his jeweler to resize his wedding band and watch, which were now too big.

Follow Gary’s journey and learn what you can expect after bariatric surgery. From planning your meals to exercise, Gary tells everyone what he found to be the most challenging, and the most surprising.
