As a patient, you want easy access to your care providers and your health information. IU Health Connection is an online healthcare management tool that empowers you to stay in charge of your healthcare. IU Health Connection is HIPAA compliant and provides you with the ability to securely view, store and share your health information including medications, allergies, immunizations and selected lab results. IU Health Connection can also allow secure messaging with your participating IU Health physician’s office to inquire about medication refills, manage appointment times and update personal information. To sign up for IU Health Connection talk to your IU Health physician.
At this time, not every physician practicing at an IU Health facility uses IU Health Connection. IU Health Connection will display the most current information IU Health has on record about you if your physician is an IU Health Connection user. In addition, IU Health Connection can provide you an electronic version of your discharge instructions if you receive care at one of the following IU Health hospitals:
- IU Health Arnett Hospital (IU Health Arnett Physician practices use MyChart)
- IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital
- IU Health Blackford Hospital
- IU Health Methodist Hospital
- IU Health University Hospital
- IU Health North Hospital
- IU Health West Hospital
- Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health
When you log in to IU Health Connection, you will be on the home page. If your physician's office uses IU Health Connection you can send and receive messages with your physician. To use secure messaging click the Inbox button on the left to reveal the sub-menu. Click Secure Messaging to display your messages. To view the content of a message, click on the message.
When a new message arrives in your IU Health Connection Inbox, an e-mail alert message will be sent to the email address you provided during registration.
You can send a message to a provider by clicking on General Message in the Inbox menu on the left. Enter the provider’s name in the To field. Enter a subject in the Subject field. Type your message. Click Send.
VIEW AND REQUEST APPOINTMENTS
If your physician's office uses IU Health Connection, you can view appointments by clicking the Appointments button on the left. Click the View Upcoming Appointments link to see your scheduled appointments. You can also send messages to reschedule or cancel appointments from this screen. (Inpatient hospital stays will not appear in your Upcoming Appointments list.)
To open sections of your Medical Record, click the name of the section in the Medical Record menu on the left. Only one section can be viewed at a time. Click on the section header (for example, Medications) or use the Expand All option to open all sections at once.
Selected lab results will be posted to IU Health Connection 72 hours after they are available. If you have any questions or concerns about your lab results please contact your physician.
