IU Health Proton Therapy Center Research

Indiana University Health Proton Therapy Center physics staff members have a combined experience of more than 70 years in the field of radiation therapy physics. Led by some of the dominant figures in the field of medical physics, the dynamic IU Health Proton Therapy Center physics team has produced an impressive list of publications in high impact journals and abstract presentations in the national and international meetings.

IU Health Proton Therapy Center research in proton therapy covers a broad spectrum of current research interests, including clinical and fundamental research. These may be organized into the following categories:

  • Proton therapy
  • Intensity modulated radiation therapy and proton therapy
  • Adaptive image-guided techniques in radiotherapy

More than 30 abstracts and poster presentations were accepted at national and international meetings in 2009. More than 10 papers were published in peer reviewed journals in fiscal 2008-09. MPRI staff members are involved with independent and collaborative research with a number of partner organizations
