Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health continues to be recognized as one of the top children's hospitals in the nation.

Nationally distributed Parents magazine recognized Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health's neonatal and pulmonary care departments in the top five nationally, fourth and fifth respectively, among select specialties that were ranked. In addition, Riley at IU Health was ranked among the top 25 —16th overall — in the nation. The rankings appeared in the February 2009 edition of Parents magazine.

Ten specialty programs at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health were ranked among the top 30 children's hospitals in the nation in 2011 – 12 edition of U.S. News & World Report's Best Children's Hospitals. The following specialty programs were recognized:

- Nephrology: 23rd
- Cardiology and Heart Surgery: 25th

The Magnet Recognition Program® honors excellence in nursing services and high quality clinical outcomes for patients. IU Health's downtown hospitals - IU Health Methodist, IU Health University and Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health - have achieved Magnet status, an honor given to less than five percent of all hospitals in the nation.
